Tom’s Aspen history began in 1969, when his family
bought a home on Red Butte Drive, and his love for the
valley recently brought the Kilby family back to the
Aspen area. Today, Tom specializes in river,
horse and golf properties. He attacks the business with
an astute approach to marketing. Before moving to the
area, Tom was a sports marketing executive in New York
for 14 years, where his branding and promotional skills,
coupled with a proficiency to anticipate, facilitate and
negotiate adapted easily to real estate.
While living in Manhattan, Tom successfully developed
Mayfly Bend Ranch, a residential ranch development
concept on the Roaring Fork in Carbondale. Last year he
could not pass up the opportunity join the Peak team and
return to what he considers the best environment to
raise a family. “In the sports business, you learn very
quickly that you are |

only as good as your last game, so you need to have vision and a
game plan. It is the same in real estate. You tirelessly find
ways to promote your listings to the right group of buyers or
you push for best deal for your buyers. You don’t stop until you get
the job done…and the process starts all over again with
the next deal”
Tom’s wife Lisa and two daughters Houston & Julia live
in River Valley Ranch, where he has quickly become
successful in securing and selling listings in the area.
Between taking one daughter to school in Carbondale, the
other in Aspen and working out of Peak’s Main Street
office, it is safe to say that Tom is one broker that
covers the valley market on a daily basis. As an avid
outdoorsman who loves to fly-fish, ski, hike, horseback
ride, and play polo, he has had no problems adjusting to
the Colorado lifestyle.
